Viewing Southeastern Nightjar Survey Routes in Google Maps
Identifying survey routes and starting miles: Click the plus (+) beside "Features" to the left of the map. Click a survey route name to zoom to the route on the map. Survey route names will appear in doubles. The first of each set refers to the entire route (blue); the second of each set refers to the starting mile (red).
To temporarily remove route or starting mile from map to view road name underneath: Click the plus (+) beside "Features" to the left of the map to reveal all route names. Click a survey route name to zoom to the route on the map. Each route has two files; The first of each set refers to the entire route (blue)and the second refers to the starting mile (red). The beginning of the starting mile indicates placement of the first Nightjar counting stop.
Warning: Routes may be displaced 400 m west when viewed from some computer screens. Routes should appear along roads and route starting miles (red) should overlay precisely over routes (blue). If routes do not align with roads on your computer screen we recommend using the Google Earth option.
