Creating Digital Map Data without a GPS Unit

If you have a computer, you can create digital map data! It is best to download Google Earth to create digital map data because maplines you create will lay exactly where you place them. However, if your connection is too slow to download Google Earth, you can create maplines and points in Google Maps, but this feature is new and kinks remain in the program, so lines will appear 1500 ft NNE of where they are drawn. However, you may view the true position of your mapline by positioning the cursor where you placed the line. Small white squares will appear at your line vertices. The position of the true line will appear correctly when the file is viewed in Google Earth or ArcMap, as it will be for data analysis.
