Professional Experience
I have worked in a wide variety of positions with the Center since starting with them in the spring of 2001. As a seasonal research technician I worked on projects including; Wayne ’s Black-throated Green Warbler study, Neotropical migrant energetics study, was the resident Saw-whet bander for three years during the falls of 2001-2003. After joining the center full time in the spring of 2004, I have been responsible for designing and carrying out avian surveys in North Carolina , Maryland , and Virginia . Specifically, I have conducted fall migrant surveys on the Eastern Shore of Virginia, breeding bird surveys near the Yadkin Project area in central North Carolina , breeding bird surveys on Bureau of Land Management lands near Washington D.C. , and also in the Bear Swamp region of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. I am responsible for hiring and supervising of staff for select projects, including a study on American Oystercatcher predation, and of the habitat use of migratory birds on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Prior to joining the Center full time, I was involved in a wide array of research projects across the continent.
